Brianna:

How's it going? I'm doing great here; I'm trying to keep cool, though. My fan is my best friend. Despite the heat, I'm still writing, and putting my poetry out there. I am also still promoting my children's story as well. Life is good. I also read a biography on P.L. Travers, author of the Mary Poppins series. She is fascinating! She had an interest in mysticism, and other religious or philosophical ideas. She really showed me that I am on the right path on life. I know that writing is wonderful, and that is one of my primary paths. But I must have other things in my life as well: I can not live off my writing. I feel good about my choices. It's refreshing to hear about the women, and their stories. Often you do not hear about the women behind these classic, fantastical, and magical children's stories. When I did an essay on Little Women, and how the book reflected the life of Louisa May Alcott, and her family, I found her life, and that of her siblings and parents very interesting. I learnt, among other things, that Louisa didn't want to write a children's book--but did it to make money. She was one of the primary breadwinners of the family--besides her mother. Her father did not believe in working, because of some philosophical belief. That is just sad. I remember learning about Beatrix Potters's parents, and that they did not believe in working, even though their inheritances came from relatives who worked. People back in those days could be so strange--what do you think?

What is your favourite Margaret Atwood book? I haven't read too many, and if you read my reply to Cheryl Tardif's question, the only one I did read was The Blind Assassin. Her poetry also rocks. I got some books by the author Jane Urqhart. I have the Underpainter, The Stone Carver, and another one that centres around a woman, a lost love, and a murder. Jane Urqhart is also Canadian, and I look forward to reading her stuff. Do you have any of Jane Urqhart's books? Did you read any from the library? Which Canadian woman author inspires you the most? What's your favourite kids' book? What's your favourite book for adults? What's your favourite movie? Are you into the Harry Potter series? Have you read all of the books so far? Do you have them all in your collection? I'm waiting for the last book to complete my collection. Have you seen all the films? Which are better in your mind--the books, or the movies? I have heard that the movies are inferior to the books--I can understand that, since in the movies, you can only cover so much. But's that's how movies are--there is a limit as to how long an audience will pay attention without getting bored.

I enjoyed all of the Lord Of The Rings movies, even though they were all quite long. I was a bit restless during the second installment, because it was composed of mostly action scenes. The Return of The King, the last installment, was amazing. I was very impressed. It was a "crowning" achievement--no pun intended! I read one of the books: The Hobbit. It bored me to tears. I never read another books of the series since. I found that Tolkiern, with that series, specifically The Hobbit, went on with too many descriptions of the places that the characters inhabited. It was too long on exposition, and not enough action. Has he written any other books besides that series? I would like to know. Do you know?

Are you into fantasy like Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, and so on? I quite enjoy J.K., and am sad that the last installment is coming out soon. C.S. Lewis, I quite enjoyed as a kid, and I loved the movie that came out last year. Tolkien, as I have said previously, naaaaa! I read that his son, though, has finished his father's posthumous novel. He was given the notes of the story, and finished it off in the Tolkien style. Clearly, being his son, and probably a writer in his own right, he would understand his father's work, and would do it justice. I'm just not that crazy about his father's work. Maybe if there was something else that I could read that was shorter--maybe then I could give it another try. Would do you think? Do know of any Tolkien novels that are not tomes like the books in the Lord of The Rings series? Let me know when you can.

So what is your Romancing The Angels about? I would be curious to know the storyline. How long did it take you to get this book out there? Are you doing all your distribution, and so on, by yourself? When you can, send me a message about yourself, and the others to my questions. Let me know what is passionate in your life--besides, of course, the writing. We are all human beings with multiple interests--do you agree? Well, I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely yours,

Alison Clarke
