- About Me:
- I enjoy reading stories, movies, and music. I love to read children's literature, as an adult, to discover sociological, political, feminist ideas or themes in a work. It is empowering as an adult, a woman of colour with progressive, feminist beliefs to uncover themes or ideas that can improve and change society for the better. I also love to analyze movies, and music for the same themes, as well as entertainment. My favourite authors are Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou, Louisa May Alcott, Beatrix Potter, P.L. Travers, Astrid Lindgren, L.M. Montgomery, Margaret Laurence, and Margaret Atwood.
I am also very supported psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually by women musicians, and directors: Sarah McLachlan, Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Billie Holiday, Madonna, and Barbra Streisand. Sometimes my ideas for poetry comes from music or movies.
I have published a children's story called The Adventures Of Eli The Elephant. It's about an elephant who travels around-the-world in a magical way. It comes with a CD of me narrating the story. The set is $15.00 and two dollars from every set goes to the Cross Cancer Institute. I am a two-time cancer survivor, and this is my way of giving back.
I have also put out two poetry CD's: one is a collection of my poetry from 1989-2006. The second is a CD that I created for a Grade one class at McKernan school. The first CD is $10.00 only. The second is only $3.00. I enjoy creating, and that is one of my purposes in life. I also love to learn.
I will be going to grad school next year. I will be going to Hollins University and will be doing a Masters' degree in Children's Literature. I am very excited about this.
I am enjoying life, and each day I appreciate. I think that everyone should do the same.
