Brian L Porter A Glowing Endorsement for A Study in Red

The following message has appeared on the forums at Casebook.com, one of the world's leading sites dealing with research and information on the Jack the Ripper crimes of 1888. The writer of the message is the subscriptions manager of The Whitechapel Scociety 1888, another prestigious organisation which holds regular meetings in London for the purpose of studying the Ripper crimes and Victorian London's history in general. What a wonderful review! Hi Brian I too have registered my vote. Hav… Continue

George Wilder Jr. Raw Deception Two

She is diabolical, she is deceitful, she is dreadful, she is a killer, and she's a mother that no child wants to have. She is the nightmare no real man wants to have. Kidnapping and murder have devoured her fat soul. My skillfully written crime fiction novel is heart pounding, thought provoking, jaw dropping, and wickedly informative. Its funny buy very serious. In Raw Deception Two, Dee Moore is going to get very pissed. She meets and falls in love with her garbage man and he winds up breaking… Continue

Brian L Porter Fantastic new chart position on Amazon UK

Wow, 'A Study in Red' just rose to number 21 in the Amazon UK best selling Jack the Ripper book listings. This morning it was at 33, having reached number 27 earlier in the week. This is great although it can just as easily slip down the chart again by tomorrow or even tonight as I believe the listings are updated almost hourly according to sales records. For now, though, I consider that a great position to have reached against so many very fine books by very illustrious authors. I'm very proud… Continue

Brian L Porter Proposed cover design for new novel

This is the proposed cover design for my latest novel, 'Pestilence'. It still has a bit of work left to be done before it's fully ready, but I thought I'd share it with my frineds here. Brian L Porter Sad News about 'Glastonbury'

In an e-mail I received two days ago the CEO of Rain Publishing, who were due to release 'Glastonbury' in four weeks, informed that due to personal health reasons, the publishing company wil be closing with effect from 15th April. She has what appears to be an aggressive and as yet un-named, (though easily guessed at), illnesswhich is life-threatening and she has to devote all of her time to trying to beat it. Cheryl Kaye Tardif Do prison inmates deserve their privacy?

TV shows like Prison Break tend to glamorize prison life. Yes, they show the violence, but they tend to make the characters more sympathetic. Some of them. And we forget why they are there.

In real life, this sometimes happens as well. Some prison rules allow for many of the same comforts we have at home. And there is a lot of controversy around this. How much do prisoners derserve these creature comforts? What rights do they have?

On Saturday, January 26th, Matsqui prison, loca…

Ok, I've told you about my singing debut and now I'll tell you how my "career" took off. I think I was about 12 the first time I entered a talent show in Masset, BC. I believe that first time I sang 'I Can See Clearly Now' and 'Amazing Grace', while strumming on my old guitar.

Cheryl Kaye Tardif TV's hit show Medium redeems itself with second episode

I really didn't enjoy writing my last review about NBC's hit TV show Medium. After my huge disappointment in the season premiere, I am happy to report that I truly enjoyed the second episode. It should have been the premiere! :)

In it, we find the characters acting more like we are used to. Ariel acts like her usual spoiled self, but we're also treated to her softer side. And it was very interesting to see her dreams in relation to Allison's.

Joe had his witty charm back.…

Cheryl Kaye Tardif Law & Order premiere and Dr. Death - too close to reality

Assisted death is still a sensitive and timely topic, and even the hit TV show Law & Order is discussing this controversial topic.

Because of the assisted dying theme in Whale Song, I have read many articles about right-to-die activist and retired pathologist Jack Kevorkian, who was paroled in June 2007, after spending 8 years in prison. He had been convicted of second-degree murder [People v. Kevorkian, 248 Mich. App. 373, 639 N.W. 2d 291 (2001)]. So when I sat down last…
