I agree that the odd movie or even the odd TV program can help at times. They can provide inspiration, or a slightly different slant to a stumbling block in a plot one is working on...sometimes one of my cats helps me edit too!

STORY BREAKDOWN - The Formula

The thing about doing story breakdowns is they never loose their value. Doesn't matter if you've published five book or none, all of us (writers) owe it to our readers to write the best story we can write. Readers pay big bucks for novels these days. If studying movies or novels makes us better storytellers, well then maybe more readers will get their money's worth.

I still hear writers say they don't believe in analyzing their work because it threatens their creative flow of consciousness or w… Continue

Yes, I guess that does rather crimp the driving around. I've never tried the idea of using distributors and agents to market my books. I guess I didn't know how well-off I really am.

As I'm just recovering from the flu myself, you have my utmost sympathy Joylene,

I know just how you feel, and it isn't nice at all.

Take care of yourself

Best wishes

Hi Joylene,

Sorry to hear you're unwell. I hope it's nothing too serious. I'm just recovering from the flu myself so I have every sympathy for whatever ails you. Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad the book has started to 'move' in Canada, as, after all, that's where my publisher is and it would be lovely to see it do well on 'home' territory.

I do have a page at Authors Den, though it's sadly in need of updating. Now that you've mentioned it I will put it on my list of things to do, so thank you for the reminder.

Best regards and get well soon. (Hope you enjoy the book when you're feeeling better).

I sympathise with you in a heatwave -- ours finally broke and we have clouds and rain since July 1st. A long time since I worked in the Libyan desert and I can't stand anything over 25 Celsius these days.

The dogs seek out that last of the mud puddles when I run them in hot weather, and I often feel like joining them.

Chris.

Hi Joylene,

It's nice to "meet" you here. I haven't a drop of Irish blood, although my French-Canadian father grew up in a village called Irishtown. But I married a man who's 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Welsh. Next summer, we're going to visit his family in Ireland, England and Wales.

If you do read In Sunshine or in Shadow, please let me know how you like it.

Cynthia
